AYS Transfers & Travel – Service Policies
Our service operates hotel to hotel, and advance reservations are required to travel with AYS Transfers & Travel.
By law, we cannot accept passengers without a confirmed reservation, even if they are at a pickup location and seats are available.
Reservations & Cancellations
- Cancellations made less than 30 days before the scheduled service will be charged 100% of the total rate.
- Cancellations made 30 days or more prior to departure may be canceled free of charge.
- No-shows will be charged 100% of the service rate.
Pick-Up & Waiting Time
- Pick-up times may vary by approximately 15 minutes due to traffic or road conditions.
- As this is a shared shuttle service, the driver will wait a maximum of 10 minutes at the pickup location.
- If the passenger does not arrive within 10 minutes after the scheduled pick-up time, the booking will be considered a NO SHOW, and 100% of the rate will apply.
- For arrival transfers, the waiting time is one hour after the flight lands.
- If, for any reason (including flight delays), the passenger is not present at the confirmed time and location, the service will be considered a NO SHOW, and 100% of the rate will be charged.
Luggage Policy
- Each passenger is allowed one carry-on item and one piece of checked luggage.
- Additional luggage must be declared and reserved in advance and will be charged according to the current rate.
- Carry-on items are the passenger’s responsibility at all times and must remain with them during the trip.
- AYS Transfers & Travel is not responsible for loss or damage to carry-on items that are not properly supervised, including items incorrectly placed in the luggage compartment.
Restricted Items
- We do not transport surfboards, bicycles, or kayaks.
- Any item other than standard luggage must be previously reported, and AYS reserves the right to accept or deny transportation.
Children & Safety
- Children under 12 years old pay 50% of the adult fare.
- Children between 6 months and 3 years of age must use a baby car seat or booster during the trip.
- Baby seats and boosters are provided free of charge but must be requested at the time of booking.
Service Conditions
- All transfers include a 15-minute rest stop, which may serve as a connection point or involve a vehicle change depending on the route.
- Pets are not allowed on board, except for certified guide dogs accompanying their owners.
- AYS Transfers & Travel is not responsible for schedule changes in ferry services or for accidents and/or luggage loss during ferry crossings.
Force Majeure
AYS Transfers & Travel reserves the right to modify or cancel services without reimbursement due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to:
- Weather conditions
- Strikes
- War or civil unrest
- Public demonstrations
- Natural disasters
- Acts of terrorism
Legal Jurisdiction
In the event of a legal dispute, both parties agree to submit to the laws and legal jurisdiction of the Republic of Costa Rica.
Additional Charges
- A fuel surcharge may apply depending on market conditions.
